The Daisy Vision
Our Daisy Vision is this: Nurturing Educators and Innovative Leaders create Ambitious and Curious Learners.
We know working with young children is a privilege. Every educator in our nurseries treats children with care and empathy, valuing and respecting their voice, opinions, and rights. Through professional love, we nurture each child's sense of safety, security and attachment. Our educators are passionate and qualified individuals who understand the complexities of early years and are experts in their field.
What do we mean by Nurturing Educators?
Each of our nursery teams are led by insightful, dedicated people who work hard to create calm but engaging environments that empower their teams to seek the best paths for each individual child with us. We always remain informed and up-to-to-date on the latest early years research and connected with colleagues across the industry. We are proud to be leading the way in early years for all children and are true advocates of childhood.
Who are our Innovative Leaders?
How do we encourage Ambitious and Curious Learners?
This is our goal. We support children in their exploration of the world around them, both as navigator and, most importantly, as passenger. We believe it is our responsibility to find out what makes each child tick, and to find ways to introduce new concepts as well as revisit old favourites. Childhood is magical and precious and fleeting, and we hope to inspire a love of learning that will equip children to aim high and enjoy the journey of life.
To support our Nurturing Educators and Innovative Leaders to create Ambitious and Curious Learners, we have four principles all our Daisy nurseries share.
We teach a Boundless and Diverse Curriculum, built on Heritage and Traditional Values, in our Unique and Inspirational Environments, using our Purposeful, Powerful Pedagogy.
Boundless and Diverse Curriculum
In this day and age, it feels like the world is changing at a faster rate than ever before. This means we are aware we are preparing children for a future we ourselves don’t yet know. We must think ambitiously and broadly about opportunities we want to offer children in our curriculum to meet the needs of this unknowable yet exciting tomorrow.
We tailor our curriculum to each child so their individual lived experience is taken into account. Our planning will always run alongside the statutory framework (the Early Years Foundation Stage, also known as the EYFS) to ensure children are enjoying an engaging and purposeful start to their educational journey. We encourage the children to be curious about the world around them, to ask questions and be articulate young learners, ready for what the world has in store for them.
Heritage and Traditional Values
Daisy nurseries are built with the values of love, kindness and respect at their very core. We teach and role model sharing, working together and positive interactions, through behaviour such as tidying toys away and pouring drinks for one another. Even in our Baby Suite we are encouraging early positive nonverbal communication through Makaton signing.
Each of our unique nursery buildings have history, a flavour of the past whilst we grow the future. We incorporate local celebrations and observances in our teaching and work in partnership with parents and guardians to bring the children’s family traditions into their nursery experience as well. In this way, we are honoured to be become as much a part of their heritage as they become of ours.
Unique and Inspirational Environments
At Daisy, we understand the importance of inviting and exciting spaces to learn. We purposefully choose locations that allow for ample time spent outdoors. Our gardens are an extension of our learning environments, promoting both physical and mental wellbeing. Our educators lead the way in showing the children just how magical and fun exploring nature can be, instilling an early love for the great outdoors.
Inside, we kit our nursery spaces with resources, child-centred layouts and soft furnishings that give children the reins to explore. To ensure we are giving children the best environments we can, we will often get on our hands and knees to view the spaces through the children’s eyes. Our settings are also all exclusive use, allowing free flow around each suite, and opportunities to visit siblings and friends in other suites.
Our environments also include well-stocked kitchens for the preparation of nutritious, homecooked meals, and we employ rigorous cleaning to ensure healthy choices and cosy living spaces. We always aim for our nursery buildings to feel like home away from home.
Purposeful and Powerful Pedagogy
If the boundless and diverse curriculum is what we teach, then a purposeful and powerful pedagogy is how we teach it. There have been many theories and concepts on how to teach early years children since research first began into the world of early childhood. We remain knowledgeable both in the ideas of traditional theorists, and in the latest approaches and developments across the sector.
We know that a high-quality early years provision can significantly better a child’s later outcomes in life. We also know every child’s experience of their early years is unique. This means we utilise these various theories so that we can cherry pick the right way to teach and communicate what we want our children to learn, and use the approach that fits each child best at every stage of their development. We fit them, they don’t fit us, and that’s what makes our pedagogy so powerful.
